Free cooling and heating from waste heat of a generator or turbine
An ammonia based air-cooled absorption chiller, running off direct waste heat from the exhaust of a generator or turbine, with the ability also to run off direct fired gas. Each unit is rated at 17.6 kW and is essentially "plug and play", being attached to the exhaust by means of a universal flange. Units may be daisy chained in unlimited numbers, thus a 600 kW diesel engine may run up to 20 chillers.

UK-based innovator Chill Technologies is field testing an absorption chiller that runs on waste heat in partnership with Nigerian insulated container and refrigeration unit provider TAK logistics and engineering company Lange & Grant. Together they are piloting the use of these chillers to maintain differing temperatures for a range of produce stored in cold rooms.
