Cold chain markets in emerging economies are expected to reach $160 billion in annual investment by 2050. Yet, many of the markets so far are underdeveloped in both business models and financing models, suffering from underdeveloped policies and regulations, electricity access, and adequate supply chains.
In this webinar, the Global Cold Chain Alliance and IFC will share the findings of the new report “Cooler Finance: Mobilizing Investment for the Developing World’s Sustainable Cooling Needs” specific to cold chains.
The report draws on the extensive experience of IFC’s TechEmerge Program, which piloted several innovative solutions in cold chains using phase change materials (PCMs) and off-grid technology. The webinar will go through business models that address consumers’ affordability constraints and cooling providers’ financial constraints, such as cooling-as-a-service. The webinar will also showcase successful case studies of implementation, including through IFC’s Transport practice.
The webinar is cross-promoted by a number of organizations, including the World Bank, the International Institute for Refrigeration, and UNEP, under the umbrella of the Cool Coalition cooperation to implement the Global Cooling Pledge.
